Tara Theatre, a cherished landmark in Atlanta, Georgia, has been a beloved destination for film enthusiasts since its establishment in 1968. Known for its dedication to arthouse, independent, classic, and foreign films, Tara Theatre offers a unique cinematic experience that celebrates the art of storytelling on the big screen.

After being owned by Regal for many years, Tara Theatre closed its doors in November 2022. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, partners, and generous donors, Tara Theatre triumphantly reopened on Memorial Day weekend 2023, following a seven-month closure. This revival symbolizes the passion and commitment of Atlanta's film lovers who rallied to preserve this iconic venue.

Located at 2345 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE, Tara Theatre boasts four screens and a nostalgic, intimate atmosphere reminiscent of cinema’s golden age. We continue to host a variety of film festivals, special events, and curated screenings that provide a home for cinephiles seeking something beyond the mainstream.

We are proud to operate alongside our sister theatre, Plaza Theatre, located on Ponce De Leon Ave. Both venues share a mission to bring unique, diverse, and thought-provoking films to the heart of Atlanta, serving as cultural hubs that celebrate the magic of cinema.
